Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowships 2026

Deadline: April 30, 2026

Applications are open for the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowships 2026. The Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University invites applications from current Duke University (and DKU) undergraduates for the 2026 Summer Research Fellowship. This program is designed for students eager to gain hands-on experience in the scientific study of inequality and its social consequences.

Fellows will be connected to one of the Cook Center’s research pillars (e.g., Educational and Economic Opportunity, Health Equity, Carceral Justice) or cross-cutting themes—systems and structures of inequality; public policy engagement; data science and methodological innovation; and training the next generation of scholars.

  • Team Communication: Attend biweekly (in person or virtual) research team meetings to discuss project updates and collaborate with post-baccalaureate and graduate mentors.
  • Progress: Maintain regular communication with research mentors to track progress, milestones, and questions.
  • Professional Development: Write a brief summary of your summer research experiences to share on the Cook Center website.
  • Expected Time Commitment (recommended): Fellows should plan to devote approximately 14–19 hours per week (on average) to fellowship activities, including meetings, research tasks, and preparation of deliverables.
