The Centre of African Studies is delighted to announce the Nyerere Scholarship for an applicant to their MSc in Africa and International Development.<\/p>\n<p>The Nyerere Scholarship provides funding for a talented Tanzanian graduate to follow in Julius Nyerere\u2019s footsteps and study at the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will receive funding for a one-year postgraduate scholarship in the multidisciplinary MSc in Africa and International Development programme.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2020, the Nyerere Scholarship has been awarded four times to academically-gifted candidates. The scholarship was initiated by Prof D. Bryceson, a graduate of the University of Dar es Salaam, to commemorate the scholarly legacy of President J.K. Nyerere, who began his Masters degree in 1949 at the University of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The scholarship will cover\u00a0Tuition Fees\u00a0and an\u00a0annual stipend\u00a0at the UKRI rate (amount to be advised; for reference, this is \u00a319,237 in 2024\/25). The annual stipend will be paid in monthly instalments following full matriculation. Payments are made into the awardee\u2019s UK bank account. Awards are made for one year only.\u00a0The award cannot be held alongside any other scholarship funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"12e8abe62ae64b91c0bfbd6c80849a4d\" data-index=\"5\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7238845118856992\" data-ad-slot=\"3100905470\" data-adsbygoogle-status=\"done\" data-ad-status=\"filled\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"aswift_3_host\"><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens domiciled in Tanzania;<\/li>\n<li>Must have graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam within the last three years (i.e. 2022-2024) or will be graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2025;<\/li>\n<li>Has been accepted on the full-time\u00a0MSc Africa and International Development\u00a0programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scholarship deadline is 23:59 GMT on Tuesday, 28 January, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In order to gain access to the scholarship application system applicants must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh.
