Through this fellowship program, tenured faculty (in the rank of professor) at the University of Bonn can invite international postdoctoral fellows for a joint research project on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set forth by the United Nations in its Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. The scientists should research and teach together with a professor from the University of Bonn for one or two semesters.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Bonn currently has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutes in Africa, Asia and Latin America. As shown by the SDG index, implementing the Sustainable Development Goals poses considerable challenges for many countries in these regions. Based on the 17th Sustainable Development Goal, \u201cPartnerships for the Goals,\u201d researchers in the above-mentioned regions are given preference for the Bonn SDG Fellowships. The goal is to support talented researchers and build and strengthen networks through them. The funding is for a period of at least 3 and not more than 12 months.<\/p>\n<div class=\"12e8abe62ae64b91c0bfbd6c80849a4d\" data-index=\"1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7238845118856992\" data-ad-slot=\"3344323800\" data-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\" data-adsbygoogle-status=\"done\" data-ad-status=\"filled\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"aswift_2_host\"><strong>Funding<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>The funding can cover the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A travel allowance (depending on country of origin)<\/li>\n<li>A scholarship of \u20ac3,000 per month (additional funds for family members: up to \u20ac300 for a spouse and \u20ac250 per child)<\/li>\n<li>A research expense allowance of up to \u20ac500 per month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Insurance benefits are not included in the scholarship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open to Post-doctoral researchers (with foreign citizenship) invited by a professor of the University of Bonn for a joint research project.<\/li>\n<li>The fellow should have a long-term affiliation (research or teach) at a university or research institute in the above-mentioned regions beyond her\/his fellowship and demonstrate proven expertise in an area of research from the thematic spectrum of the SDGs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project proposals are evaluated in two categories:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Academic Quality and Mutual Benefit (50%):\u00a0<\/strong>quality of the research project to be worked on during the stay in Bonn; work on a topic that contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set forth by the United Nations in its Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development; relevance of the research topic to developments in the region of origin; fellow\u2019s contribution to academic life in Bonn (e.g. via public lectures, seminars or colloquiums);\u00a0fellow\u2019s integration into the host institute (place of work, integration into existing teaching and research activities)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strategic Relevance and Potential for Future Cooperation (50%):<\/strong>\u00a0Intensity of the existing cooperation;\u00a0plans for long-term research relationships between the fellow and the host institute in Bonn; connection to Bonn\u2019s research profile ; how the research will be shared with broader academic communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In case two proposal score the same, the category \u201cAcademic Quality and Mutual Benefit\u201d will be given priority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application must include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Online form<\/li>\n<li>Project description (PDF of max. 8 pages), consisting of:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Abstract of the proposed project (up to 250 words)<\/li>\n<li>Outline of the research project to be worked on during the fellow\u2019s stay in Bonn;
