The CSIR, in collaboration with the Sasol Foundation, provides financial support to full-time, unemployed students seeking qualifications in areas that are deemed a priority by the CSIR.<\/p>\n<p>The areas of an undergraduate bursary include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mechatronic Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Computer Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Electronic Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Chemical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Material Flow Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Process Engineering\/Life cycle assessment<\/li>\n<li>Information Technology<\/li>\n<li>Data Science<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Genetics\/Cell Biology<\/li>\n<li>System Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a comprehensive bursary, and it covers all the costs associated with university studies, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration fees<\/li>\n<li>Tuition fees<\/li>\n<li>Books<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation<\/li>\n<li>Living allowances<\/li>\n<li>Once-off laptop allowance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Additional Benefits<\/em><\/p>\n<p>CSIR-Sasol Foundation students will also receive additional support through the following initiatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recognition of top performing students \u2013 CSIR Excellence Awards, certificates and gifts handed out;<\/li>\n<li>Possible work placement opportunities at the CSIR and other affiliated organisations;<\/li>\n<li>Interview skills training offered to final year students in preparation for the world of work;<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to work on real-life projects that address socioeconomic challenges through your research (CSIR co-supervision);<\/li>\n<li>Onboarding session and an opportunity to meet the CSIR and Sasol Foundation team;<\/li>\n<li>Psychosocial support (e.g. academic and psychological support);<\/li>\n<li>Student wellness programme;<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to be paired with senior CSIR professionals through a mentorship programme; and<\/li>\n<li>Vacation work opportunities of up to six (6) weeks per annum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Current Grade 12 learners:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South African citizen;<\/li>\n<li>Must intend to enrol full-time for the degree of choice at a South African public university;<\/li>\n<li>English (Level 5);<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics (Level 6); and<\/li>\n<li>Physical Science (Level 6).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Current university students:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be a South African citizen;<\/li>\n<li>Planning to enrol full-time at a South African university for 2025; and<\/li>\n<li>Must have passed all registered courses for the completed study period at the university.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following documents must accompany your application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An updated CV;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of your certified identity document;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of your latest academic record; and<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the Grade 11 final year results (for current Grade 12 learners).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bursaryconnect.csir.co.za\/apex\/r\/apexbursar\/csir-bursary-portal\/login?session=7749313176896\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to apply<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csir.co.za\/csir-bursary-collaboration-sasol-foundation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSIR-SASOL Foundation Bursary<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deadline: August 29, 2025 Applications are open for the CSIR-SASOL Foundation Bursary 2026.
