The Young Leaders in Research (YLR) Grant is a 12-month grant. It supports early-career African researchers in economics and related fields to lead policy-relevant, context-driven research that advances Africa\u2019s transformation agenda. Young Researchers receive funding, mentorship, visibility, and professional development support to elevate their research and influence policymaking on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>The YLR grant aligns with ACET\u2019s Growth with DEPTH framework, which focuses on five pillars: Diversification, Export Competitiveness, Productivity, Technology, Human Well-being. This ensures that Young Researcher\u2019s research contributes meaningfully to Africa\u2019s structural transformation through evidence-based, actionable solutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2026 Research Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gender\u2028Equality<\/li>\n<li>Regional\u2028Integration<\/li>\n<li>Innovation &amp; Digital Policy<\/li>\n<li>Green Industrial\u2028Transformation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to $15,000 research grant.<\/li>\n<li>Mentorship from ACET Senior Fellows.<\/li>\n<li>Peer learning and networking as well as networking events where possible.<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity for publication and presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preference will be given to African Nationals or applicants who hold permanent residency in African\u00a0countries.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants should exhibit leadership qualities and commitment to positively impacting Africa and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Age 35 or younger at the time of application.<\/li>\n<li>Completed or enrolled in a master\u2019s degree or higher.<\/li>\n<li>Background in economics or related field.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in research through coursework, internships, volunteer work, or personal projects.
