AI for Science is a stream in AIMS South Africa\u2019s Master\u2019s degree in Mathematical Science, made possible through a partnership with Google DeepMind. The program sits at the exciting intersection of AI and the Sciences. This exciting program started with its first intake of students in September 2023. It is a fully residential one-year taught masters with a research component.<\/p>\n<p>A Google DeepMind donation funds 40 scholars per year for the four years starting September 2023. The scholars are Google DeepMind scholars and have opportunities to connect with Google DeepMind\u2019s researchers and engineers for mentoring and support. Beyond scholarships, the program will draw on Google DeepMind\u2019s world-leading expertise in AI for Science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The funding covers full scholarships, equipment and computation costs for students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible to apply for the AI for Science program, you have to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a resident in Africa at time of application who are passionate about mathematics, artificial intelligence and machine learning;<\/li>\n<li>be a citizen of any country in Africa;<\/li>\n<li>have completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year undergraduate degree with an honours year by August 2025 (or December 2025 for southern African applicants);<\/li>\n<li><em>not<\/em> have held a previous scholarship to study at an AIMS centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upload the following documents before 11:59 PM on 6 March 2025:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<li>A motivation letter of around 500 words<\/li>\n<li>Academic transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Representative examples of work that you\u2019ve done in the mathematical sciences (to be found on the application site)<\/li>\n<li>Coding problem (to be found on the application site)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ai.aims.ac.za\/apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to apply<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ai.aims.ac.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI for Science Master\u2019s Program<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_column_text css=\"\"] Deadline: March 6, 2026 Applications are open for the AIMS South Africa AI for Science Master\u2019s Program 2026-2027.
