The BASE Fellowship is a 12-week, part-time remote program beginning in April 2026 and will extend to July 2026, designed to develop Black researchers, practitioners, and leaders in AI Safety, AI Security, AI Governance.<\/p>\n<p>Black in AI Safety and Ethics (BASE) exists to increase Black representation and leadership in the fields of AI safety, Governance, and Security. Their mission is to build a global community that connects, educates, and empowers Black researchers, professionals, and students to shape the development of safe, equitable, and human-centered AI systems, while preventing the gradual disempowerment of the Black diaspora in the age of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fellows gain structured expert mentorship, foundational training, and hands-on research experience to prepare them for impactful research in the rapidly evolving AI safety ecosystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open to Black researchers, practitioners, and leaders in AI Safety, AI Security, AI Governance.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants may be based anywhere in the world.
