The King\u2019s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme Climate Resilience Fellowships, inspired by His Majesty King Charles III, will provide professionals working on the frontline of climate adaptation from across the public sector, civil society, and the private sector in Commonwealth SIDS with an accredited one-year professional development programme focused on climate adaptation practice.<\/p>\n<p>The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is seeking\u00a0academic supervisors and professional mentors to support Fellows completing a practical, workplace-based\u00a0applied project as part of a postgraduate certificate in climate adaptation practice in Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS).\u00a0The postgraduate certification is being delivered as part of the KCFP.<\/p>\n<p>Academic supervisors will be university-based\u00a0climate adaptation-focused academics. Professional mentors will\u00a0be leaders within NGOs, government agencies, or\u00a0private organisations working within climate adaptation practice.\u00a0The supervisors and mentors will support high quality, student-led climate adaptation projects in Commonwealth SIDS by providing expert guidance, ensuring alignment with National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and flagging potential risks, ultimately helping students to design and deliver locally relevant solutions that strengthen resilience to climate impacts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful applicants will receive GBP 200 honorarium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Supervisors<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To be eligible for this post as an academic supervisor you must be employed at an ACU member university.<\/li>\n<li>The ideal candidate should have a research background in the following categories or similar:\n<ul>\n<li>Climate science<\/li>\n<li>Adaptation planning<\/li>\n<li>Environmental policy<\/li>\n<li>Earth and environmental sciences<\/li>\n<li>Disaster risk reduction<\/li>\n<li>Renewable energy<\/li>\n<li>Community-based adaptation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Mentors<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible as a professional mentor, you must be an employee of a registered organisation or registered as self-employed. Ideal mentors should combine geographic and cultural insight, technical expertise, and practical experience and place-based expertise. For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Practitioners \u2013 professionals from NGOs or government agencies implementing National Adaptation Plans (NAPs); private sector leaders in sustainable agriculture, water security, or green infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Local and indigenous \u2013 community leaders or elders with expertise in traditional resource management, coastal resilience, and nature-based solutions; representatives from indigenous organisations active in climate advocacy.<\/li>\n<li>Cross cutting profiles \u2013 community leaders or elders with expertise in traditional resource management, coastal resilience, and nature-based solutions; representatives from indigenous organisations active in climate advocacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acu.ac.uk\/funding-opportunities\/for-students\/scholarships\/the-king%E2%80%99s-commonwealth-fellowship-programme\/king%E2%80%99s-commonwealth-fellowship-programme-climate-resilience-fellowships\/king's-commonwealth-fellowship-programme-climate-resilience-fellowships-mentors-and-supervisors\/application-requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">application requirements<\/a>\u00a0before starting the application form.
