The Tyler Prize is the world\u2019s most prestigious annual environmental prize. Often referred to as the \u201cgreen Nobel Prize\u201d, it was the first prize of its kind to be awarded in the field of environmental science.<\/p>\n<p>The prize recognizes individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to understanding and safeguarding our planet, as well as advancing solutions to critical environmental challenges. Their Laureates work across diverse fields within environmental science and leadership including conservation, public policy and economics on issues including health, air, water pollution, biodiversity loss, and energy.<\/p>\n<p>The fundamental objective of the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement is to recognize outstanding contributions to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Protection, maintenance, improvement, or understanding of an ecological or an environmental condition<\/li>\n<li>Discovery, development, or improvement of sustainable sources of energy<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of, or improvements to planetary health, and global solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recipients of the Tyler Prize are honored in a ceremony in which they are presented with the Tyler Prize medallion, plaque, and an award of USD $250,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Tyler Prize is awarded to individuals and institutions from any part of the world working to deliver global impact for the environment<\/li>\n<li>All nominations must come from a third party (self-nominations are not permitted)<\/li>\n<li>Multiple nominations from a single nominator and posthumous nominations are not permitted<\/li>\n<li>Nominations are retained for three years of consideration<\/li>\n<li>Nominators should make sure they have all the information required from our Nominators Checklist before they get started.<\/li>\n<li>Nominations must be submitted in the English language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The work of nominees is expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be based on strong science, including natural and\/or social sciences<\/li>\n<li>Address global inequalities and solutions<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate measurable and scalable impact(s) on policy and\/or practice<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate engagement with younger generations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other factors that will be considered include the integration of diverse perspectives in environmental policy and practices and the promotion of environmental justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nomination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure you have the following information about your nominee before you get started:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full names, addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers of nominee and nominator.<\/li>\n<li>A one to two-page summary of the individual\u2019s or organization\u2019s accomplishments, discovery, improvement, or other contribution for which the award is proposed, including links to appropriate websites and works.<\/li>\n<li>A list of 3 to 5 individuals who would be ready to provide reference letters if the nomination is advanced to the short list. Include a contact name, organization, and email address for each reference.
