The goal of the NATO Chief Scientist\u2019s Grants programme is to support S&amp;T work at the strategic level and provide the scientific evidence-base for political or military senior leadership and policymakers.<\/p>\n<p>The programme provides funding to support research and S&amp;T initiatives across innovative topics. This programme is a framework developed by the NATO Science &amp; Technology Organization (STO) Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the mission of the NATO Chief Scientist in the provision of Science &amp; Technology (S&amp;T) advice to NATO leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Attract talented scientists towards NATO\u2019s S&amp;T activities with a view to widen the NATO scientific knowledge base.<\/li>\n<li>Promote NATO\u2019s S&amp;T through activities that augment and leverage the capabilities and programmes of the Alliance in support of NATO\u2019s objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the integration of national S&amp;T representatives and scientists in the STO, its business models and Programmes of Work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This year, the programme will award \u20ac500,000 in total, with individual grants of up to \u20ac100,000, depending on the scope of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NATO Chief Scientist Grants programme is open to nationals from NATO Allies working for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organizations affiliated with or part of a NATO Allied government.<\/li>\n<li>Organizations affiliated with research Institutes, NGOs or private or public companies etc. in a NATO country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the applicants need to be resident in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/en\/about-us\/organization\/nato-member-countries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a NATO country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When drafting their proposal, applicants should address the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How does the proposal contribute to the S&amp;T themes and the NATO S&amp;T Strategy?<\/li>\n<li>What is the scientific relevance of the proposal and what scientific objectives is it trying to accomplish?<\/li>\n<li>How does the proposal contribute to NATO\u2019s core tasks?<\/li>\n<li>What will be the exploitation and impact of the activity expected results?<\/li>\n<li>What risks could make the proposal fail to deliver its expected results?<\/li>\n<li>What is the expected cost of the project?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web-eur.cvent.com\/event\/ccf85498-2252-4bff-8564-f39a1fae0e07\/register\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to apply<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sto.nato.int\/ocs\/nato-chief-scientist-grants-programme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NATO Chief Scientist Grants Programme<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_column_text css=\"\"] Deadline: March 15, 2026 Applications are open for the NATO Chief Scientist Grants Programme 2026.
