The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) is an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Canada\u2019s ties with Asia. As part of their Indo-Pacific Initiative, supported by funding from the Government of Canada, they invite proposals\u00a0for joint research projects\u00a0between Canadian and Indo-Pacific-based institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this initiative is to build a greater understanding of specific policy issues and\/or policy contexts in the Indo-Pacific region and generate actionable, policy-relevant insights on Canada\u2019s engagement with the region.<\/p>\n<p>The thematic areas for this year\u2019s call for applications include: economic resilience and security, energy security, defence industrial co-operation, regional security, supply chain resilience, critical minerals, innovation, and emerging technologies (including digital governance and artificial intelligence).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to\u00a0C$40,000\u00a0per project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proposals must be\u00a0jointly developed\u00a0by at least one Canada-based institution and at least one institution based in the Indo-Pacific.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0Canadian partner must serve as the lead applicant and grant holder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Assessment Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Policy relevance &amp; impact\u00a0for Canadian stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Quality and feasibility\u00a0of the research design and workplan<\/li>\n<li>Strength and complementarity\u00a0of the Canada\u2013Indo-Pacific partnership<\/li>\n<li>Clarity of outputs and knowledge-mobilization plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Proposal Requirements (max. 5 pages)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Address the following (use clear headings):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Policy Focus &amp; Relevance:\u00a0What specific policy area will you address, and why does it matter for Canada?
