Candidates selected to be \u201cYoung Trade Leaders\u201d will be exceptional young people who demonstrate a clear understanding of how trade can be of benefit to people and planet. They will bring new perspectives and ideas about the role of trade and the WTO, while also having the opportunity to learn about the organization\u2019s work and play a role in advancing its mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selected Young Trade Leaders have the opportunity to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain a greater understanding of the workings of the WTO and international trade<\/li>\n<li>Publish articles, blogs, podcasts and social media content on trade-related topics<\/li>\n<li>Attend an in-person one-day training programme at the WTO in Geneva<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to and\/or coordinate a session at the Public Forum 2026<\/li>\n<li>Benefit from existing WTO training programmes<\/li>\n<li>Benefit from WTO Secretariat advice and mentoring<\/li>\n<li>Receive support when organizing WTO-related activities in their home countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Between the ages of 18 and 28 on the closing date for applications, with a strong interest in international trade<\/li>\n<li>A citizen of a WTO member<\/li>\n<li>Neither currently affiliated with the WTO, nor have a relative who is currently WTO-affiliated<\/li>\n<li>Able to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English \u2013 knowledge of a second WTO working language (French or Spanish) is an asset<\/li>\n<li>Attuned to the need for diplomacy, show a willingness to respect diverse perspectives, willing to foster understanding of trade issues and promote constructive dialogue<\/li>\n<li>Committed to participate fully throughout the one-year programme (July 2026-June 2027).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates should submit their application by filling out the\u00a0online application form\u00a0and uploading the relevant documentation.<\/p>\n<p>Applications must include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CV (no more than two pages)<\/li>\n<li>2-minute video in which the candidate briefly introduces themselves, expresses their interest in the programme and explains the impact they hope to have as a Young Trade Leader<\/li>\n<li>a written contribution (max. 300 words) answering one of the following questions (select only one):\n<ul>\n<li>How can trade better serve the next generation?<\/li>\n<li>What role should young people play in shaping the future of trade?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The application period is open until 1 May 2026 (23.59 CET). Applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
