CaribOx is a visiting fellowship and travel-grant programme designed to support researchers across all disciplines based at Caribbean research institutions and to facilitate collaborations with researchers based at the University of Oxford. They welcome applications from all academic disciplines and strongly encourage applications from researchers from minoritised groups (including but not limited to gender\/class\/ethnic background).<\/p>\n<p>The elected fellows will be affiliated with the University of Oxford for twelve months starting from January 2027. This will include a ten month-long virtual engagement, and a two month in-person visit to Oxford, which will take place between Sunday, 25th April to Saturday, 19th June 2027 (Trinity Term).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fellowship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fellowship includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ten months of virtual engagement with the nominated Oxford collaborator.<\/li>\n<li>A two month in-person visit to Oxford between Sunday, 25th April to Saturday 19th June 2027.<\/li>\n<li>A University Card for access to online resources available through the University of Oxford, valid for 1 calendar year.<\/li>\n<li>A per-diem towards the cost of subsistence while in Oxford.<\/li>\n<li>The full cost of return economy-class flights to\/from the UK.<\/li>\n<li>Association and accommodation through All Souls College during residency in Oxford. This will include membership of the Common Room (which gives access to a common space reserved for the use of academics and members of the teaching staff, as well as the right to eat lunch and dinner without charge).<\/li>\n<li>Visa application and logistical support for travel to\/from Oxford.<\/li>\n<li>Support and facilitation for virtual events and activities through TORCH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications are open to researchers in all disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants are expected to:\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a PhD or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>Be a legal resident of a Caribbean country (including the Windward and Leeward Islands).<\/li>\n<li>Be fully employed by an academic institution based in the Caribbean (including the Windward and Leeward Islands). The applicant\u2019s contract of employment should cover the length of the Fellowship.<\/li>\n<li>In compliance with UK visa regulations, commit to return to the Caribbean following the CaribOx Fellowship residency in Oxford.<\/li>\n<li>Have an existing collaboration or be in contact with a potential collaborator at Oxford prior to the application deadline.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange and provide proof of relevant approvals by their home institutions related to taking up the Fellowship.<\/li>\n<li>Possess a minimum of intermediate knowledge of English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Evaluation Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality of the research proposal.<\/li>\n<li>The statement of support by the Oxford-based research collaborator.<\/li>\n<li>Potential outcomes, including longer-term opportunities for collaboration.<\/li>\n<li>The relation of the proposed project to a candidate\u2019s career trajectory.<\/li>\n<li>Account will be taken of what other research funding the candidate is eligible to apply for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure you are eligible to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Contact your proposed Oxford collaborator ahead of making your application. If you do not currently have Oxford collaborator, consult the university website on the divisions and department of the university to find one:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ox.ac.uk\/about\/divisions-and-departments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.ox.ac.uk\/about\/divisions-and-departments<\/a>. They expect prospective applicants to have made contact with an Oxford collaborator ahead of the application. The CaribOx Programme Officer is available to answer general questions about Oxford departments, divisions, and faculties, though they do expect more detailed disciplinary questions to be directed specifically to potential Oxford collaborators.<\/li>\n<li>Request your Oxford Collaborator to complete the statement of support form and submit it via email\u00a0to:\u00a0<span data-cfemail=\"3d5e5c4f545f52457d49524f5e55135245135c5e134856\">[email\u00a0protected]<\/span>\u00a0before the deadline, Tuesday, 15th September 2026, 17.00 UK time. Applications without a statement of support from an Oxford-based researcher will be disqualified.<\/li>\n<li>Fill out the application form in English.
