Hamdan Award 2026. Established in 2020, this award is named after TWAS\u2019s late Vice-President for the Arab Region, Prof. Hamdan. As a Member of the Academy since 1988, Prof. Hamdan was deeply committed to the cause and objectives of TWAS and for many years he actively supported the Academy and held the position of TWAS Vice-President for the Arab countries on the TWAS Council.<\/p>\n<p>His true commitment to the cause and mission of TWAS in sustaining scientific capacity-building in the developing world was so strong that he endowed a large sum to TWAS to establish an award in his name.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The award is given every two year and consists of $5,000 and a certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The award recognizes outstanding mathematical work (pure, applied, probability, statistics) by scientist working and living in Africa or the Arab region.<\/li>\n<li>Eligible candidates are nationals of an African or Arab country, who have been living and working there for a minimum of two years immediately prior to their nomination.<\/li>\n<li>TWAS Fellows are not eligible. Individuals who have previously won a TWAS-named Award are not eligible to be nominated for Awards named after a different TWAS Fellow.<\/li>\n<li>Self-nominations and nominations from jury members will not be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nomination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A nomination is considered complete only if includes all of the following information\/material:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominator contact details;<\/li>\n<li>Nominee (the candidate) contact details and general information on the nominee, including the country where he\/she has been working and living in the previous two years;<\/li>\n<li>Authorization from the nominee to process his\/her personal data for the purposes of his\/her nomination, in conformity to Art. 13 of the Italian Legislative Decree 196\/2003. This authorization can only be submitted through the online platform. The privacy authorization form is available for download in the section \u201cNominee\u2019s Personal Data\u201d. The form must be duly filled and signed by the candidate and then uploaded onto the online platform;<\/li>\n<li>Suggested citation (15-20 words highlighting the nominee\u2019s scientific achievements in mathematical sciences);<\/li>\n<li>Supporting statement regarding the nominee\u2019s contribution. Supporting statements should explain in detail the work performed by the candidate and its significance in the relevant scientific context. Clear reference should be made to the scientific impact of the nominee\u2019s work. Vague supporting statements will not be considered and will negatively affect the evaluation \u00a0(max 10,000 characters);<\/li>\n<li>Forward-looking project outlining the candidate planned future activities (max 10,000 characters);<\/li>\n<li>Clear and detailed account of any time spent abroad by the nominee in the previous two years;<\/li>\n<li>Information on the PhD subject area, year and awarding institution;<\/li>\n<li>Brief information on membership in academies and societies;<\/li>\n<li>Brief information on awards and honours received;<\/li>\n<li>List of 10 most significant publications listed in an internationally acceptable format;<\/li>\n<li>Nominee\u2019s\u00a0brief\u00a0CV and her\/his complete list of publications are also to be uploaded, separately, onto the online platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlineforms.twas.org\/apply\/305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to nominate<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twas.org\/opportunity\/twas-mohammad-hamdan-award\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TWAS-Mohammad A.
