The Business Incubation Program is a 12-month opportunity focused on helping tech founders in Africa to succeed with their entrepreneurial ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Startups entering the Business Incubation Program have a proof-of-concept prototype for their product and a preliminary market assessment. The goal is for startups to leave the program with a revenue generating product that is positioned to successfully compete for additional investment they will need to scale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$50,000 USD in seed funding from CMU-Africa<\/li>\n<li>12 months of targeted advisory support from experienced practitioners across product, growth, compliance, and investment to drive revenue, scale, and investor readiness.<\/li>\n<li>$5,000 in AWS credits and $1,500 in Amazon technical support<\/li>\n<li>Introductions to angel investors, VCs firms, and partners in Africa and Pittsburgh<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to connect CMU-Africa\u2019s partner ecosystem across Africa<\/li>\n<li>Connection to global entrepreneurship networks, including startups and industry partners at CMU\u2019s Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible startups must be less than two years old and meet the following at the time of application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be building a scalable, tech-enabled solution addressing a clearly defined market opportunity across Africa<\/li>\n<li>Have a proof-of-concept prototype with early validation and a clear path to profitability, scalability, and inclusive impact<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate strong market understanding and a credible business model<\/li>\n<li>Be led by at least two committed co-founders, able to dedicate full-time effort to the venture and program<\/li>\n<li>Be a registered company<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They will not consider applications from startups with the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marketplaces (E-commerce, middleman platforms)<\/li>\n<li>Late stage startups which have raised significant capital and earn consistent revenue<\/li>\n<li>Startups without potential to generate jobs<\/li>\n<li>Non-tech enabled startups<\/li>\n<li>Startups without functional prototypes<\/li>\n<li>Startups that have been through more than two similar programs in the past 12 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSd5d10PJmdQU175wKf_UOPTaXHAiyTXNmP1te1fhEqimvyXRw\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to apply<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa.engineering.cmu.edu\/impact\/innovation-hub\/business-incubation-program\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business Incubation Program<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[vc_column_text css=\"\"] Deadline: May 20, 2026 Applications are open for the Carnegie Mellon University Africa Business Incubation Program 2026-2027.
